Overview of Ongoing Event Series at the Writing Studio
Core Studio Workshop Series
The Writing Studio is excited to launch a new weekly writing workshop series for 2025-2026 that we are calling our Core Studio Workshops.
Core Studio Workshops are open to all, but are intended specifically for first-year undergraduates as new college writers. Each of these weekly workshops will be an opportunity to focus in on a particular topic geared to helping you grow your skills and deepen your understanding of college writing in a group setting.

Undergraduate Writing Symposium
The Undergraduate Writing Symposium is an annual celebration of excellent writing by Vanderbilt undergraduate students.

Dissertation Writers鈥� Retreat series
The Writing Studio鈥檚 dissertation writers鈥� retreats provide dissertating graduate students with time to work individually in a quiet, collegial atmosphere. We couple ample writing time with optional, one-on-one consultations and daily workshops meant to focus writers on their argumentation, chapter structure, and daily writing goals. We hold an annual week-long retreat during the summer and mini-retreats during fall and spring breaks.

Here at the Writing Studio, we know that tackling graduate-level writing projects can feel both exciting and overwhelming. That鈥檚 why we have designed a graduate student writing group program to help graduate students navigate their graduate writing journey.

Dinner and a Draft
Dinner and a Draft is an opportunity for students to hear faculty talk about their writing and writing processes over a delicious dinner.
On Writing
On Writing is a series of conversations with faculty and other advanced writers at Vanderbilt about their writing practices. Conversations examine writers鈥� eccentricities and the ways in which a given writer generates ideas, cultivates a style, and responds to various writing situations. On Writing events are free and open to the public.
