Vanderbilt offers a variety of transportation and parking options to support commuting to campus, whether you drive, take public transit, bike, walk or carpool. Explore parking options, transit resources, commute programs and tools designed to help faculty, staff, students and postdoctoral scholars find the transportation solution that works best for them.

Public transit

Ride WeGo for Free

Vanderbilt faculty, staff,ÌýstudentsÌýand postdoctoral scholars can rideÌý free of charge using a Vanderbilt-registeredÌýÌýapp or physical card.Ìý

The university transit benefit includes:Ìý

  • WeGoÌýlocal and regional busesÌýÌý
  • WeGoÌýStar commuter railÌýÌý
  • WeGoÌýAccess paratransit services for eligible ridersÌýÌý

Free rides are available anytime and anywhere on the WeGo system. A Vanderbilt-registeredÌýQuickTicketÌýapp or card isÌýrequiredÌýfor free rides.Ìý

Get started with WeGo

  1. Request a registration code by emailing Parking@vanderbilt.edu
  2. Download the QuickTicket by WeGo app or request a physical QuickTicket card
  3. Register and activate your Vanderbilt WeGo Ride benefit
  4. Plan, scan and ride

Users may select either the mobile app or a physical card. Accounts are not interchangeable.

Ridehail – Lyft partnership

Vanderbilt partners with Lyft toÌýprovideÌýa transportation option for official university-sponsored travel.Ìý

Departments and university programs may use Lyft for transportation needs such as:Ìý

  • Student programsÌýÌý
  • Event transportationÌýÌý
  • Guest and visitor transportationÌýÌý
  • Backup transportation when other options are unavailableÌýÌý

Transportation is managed through Vanderbilt-approved Lyft programs that include centralized billing, safetyÌýrequirementsÌýand ride parameters.Ìý

Examples of supported transportation include student programming, visiting speakers, off-campusÌýappointmentsÌýand university-sponsored events.Ìý

Departments mayÌýestablishÌýLyft ride programs through the Vanderbilt Lyft dashboard using:Ìý

  • Lyft Pass CodesÌýfor one-time or event transportationÌýÌý
  • Lyft CreditsÌýfor recurring transportation needsÌýÌý
  • Lyft Concierge RidesÌýfor guests or riders without a Lyft accountÌýÌý

Program administratorsÌýare required toÌýcomplete university training before creating rides or transportation programs.Ìý

Student Transportation SupportÌý

The LyftÌýRidehailÌýPartnership is designed for university-sponsored transportation and is not intended for personal student travel or internship commuting.Ìý

Guaranteed Ride Home

A backup plan when you need itÌýÌý

TheÌýGuaranteed Ride HomeÌýprogram provides eligible sustainable commuters with a free Lyft ride homeÌýin the event ofÌýan emergency or unexpected circumstance.Ìý

The program is designed to support faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars, graduateÌýstudentsÌýand professional students who commute sustainably andÌýparticipateÌýin Vanderbilt’s Daily Parking Program.Ìý

Eligible sustainable commute options include:Ìý

  • WalkingÌý
  • BikingÌý
  • CarpoolingÌý
  • Bus or commuter railÌý
  • VanpoolingÌýÌý

How it worksÌý

Eligible users may receive up toÌýsix free rides per year, including:Ìý

  • Up to three rides from July 1–December 31ÌýÌý
  • Up to three rides fromÌýJanuary 1–June 30ÌýÌý

To qualify, participants must:Ìý

  • Be enrolled in the Daily Parking ProgramÌý
  • Have a MoveVU Commute Hub account and Lyft accountÌýÌý
  • Complete the required waiver at least 48 hours before first useÌýÌý
  • Log a sustainable commute in the Commute Calendar that same dayÌý
  • Begin the ride from campusÌýÌý

Covered situationsÌý

Guaranteed Ride Home may be used for:Ìý

  • Family emergenciesÌýÌý
  • Illness or injuryÌýÌý
  • Missed carpools or vanpoolsÌýÌý
  • Unexpected overtimeÌýÌý

Not coveredÌý

The program does not cover:Ìý

  • Travel from home to campusÌýÌý
  • Planned appointmentsÌýÌý
  • Personal errandsÌýÌý
  • Business-related travelÌýÌý
  • Transit service disruptionsÌýÌý
  • Medical emergencies requiring 911 servicesÌýÌý

Eligible commuters are encouraged to also register forÌýWeGoÌýPublic Transit’sÌý.Ìý
