Since 2022, Vanderbilt鈥檚 annual Summit on Modern Conflict and Emerging Threats聽has brought together senior leaders and experts from the government, military, the intelligence community, industry, and academia to examine the forces reshaping conflict and global security.

Now the Asness Summit on Modern Conflict and Emerging Threats, the Institute鈥檚 signature annual convening creates a forum for candid, cross-sector dialogue on the strategic, technological, and policy challenges defining the modern security environment.

Through keynote conversations, expert discussions, and opportunities for engagement, the Summit connects leaders across disciplines and sectors to challenge conventional thinking, exchange ideas, and deepen understanding of emerging threats and their implications for national and global security.

Convening in the Capital

Join leaders from the government, military, industry, academia, and the national security communities for our inaugural Convening in the Capital: Autonomy at Scale on November 18, 2026.

As drones reshape the character of warfare, the United States faces a defining challenge: to decide faster, defeat cheaper, and deliver at scale 鈥� all against adversaries operating by a different set of rules.

Featuring a keynote conversation with Eric Schmidt, KBE, former Chairman and CEO of Google, and remarks from Oleksandr Kamyshin, former Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, the event will move beyond dialogue to action. Through expert-led discussions, live technology demonstrations, and the launch of a formal research challenge, this one-day Washington, D.C. convening will catalyze innovative solutions built around a core focus: Decide, Defeat, Deliver.

National Security Symposium

For more than 15 years, Vanderbilt鈥檚 National Security Symposium聽has brought together students, alumni, national security leaders, and members of the broader Vanderbilt community for meaningful conversations on leadership, service, and the challenges facing our nation.

Established in 2009 by the Vanderbilt NROTC Alumni Association, the symposium has a longstanding tradition of connecting the Vanderbilt community with distinguished leaders from across the military, government, and national security enterprise. Today, the Vanderbilt 溏心vlog免费B站 Institute of National Security is proud to partner with NROTC and its alumni community to build on that legacy.

Through keynote conversations and opportunities for engagement, the annual symposium connects generations of leaders, encourages a commitment to public service, and gives students direct access to the experiences and perspectives of those who have served at the highest levels of national leadership.

The Lecture Series on Modern Conflict and Emerging Threats聽brings leading voices from the government, military, intelligence, industry, academia, and beyond to Vanderbilt for timely conversations on the forces shaping national and global security.

Complementing the annual Asness Summit on Modern Conflict and Emerging Threats, the series creates opportunities throughout the year to explore consequential issues in greater depth 鈥� from geopolitical competition and emerging technologies to leadership, intelligence, diplomacy, and the changing character of conflict.

Through candid conversations and direct engagement with students, faculty, and the broader Vanderbilt community, the Lecture Series connects experience and expertise with new ideas, creating a forum to examine today's most pressing challenges and consider what they mean for the future of national security.
