History

The NROTC Unit, Vanderbilt äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ was founded 17 March 1945 with an application for acceptance into the program sent by äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ President Oliver C. Carmichael. Graduates began to be commissioned with the 1947 graduating class. Since that time, over 2,200 men and women have completed the NROTC program at Vanderbilt and have gone on to serve their country as officers in the United States Navy and Marine Corps.

Today, the NROTC Unit, Vanderbilt äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBվ has established itself as a top ranked Unit throughout the NROTC Program, with excellent acceptance rates for the career choices of graduating MIDN.  The unit is headquartered on the corner of Edgehill and 19th Avenue South in midtown Nashville, TN across the street from the Vanderbilt Peabody campus. This unit is composed of midshipmen from Vanderbilt, Tennessee State and Belmont äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾.
