Associate Vice Chancellor for Strategy and Operations
Sally Parker serves as associate vice chancellor for strategy and operations in Vanderbilt 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Division of Government and Community Relations, where she is a member of the vice chancellor鈥檚 core leadership team. In this role, she oversees division-wide operations, leads strategic initiatives and works closely with university leadership to advance Vanderbilt鈥檚 priorities and strengthen the university鈥檚 engagement with external partners.
Parker leads and supports strategic projects that span government relations, community engagement and economic development, bringing together teams and partners from across Vanderbilt and the broader community. She works across the university to align institutional priorities, foster cross-functional collaboration and translate strategy into action. She also represents the vice chancellor on institutional initiatives and university-wide projects.
In addition to her Vanderbilt leadership role, Parker serves as interim executive director of the , an initiative founded by Vanderbilt 溏心vlog免费B站 and Nashville Mayor Freddie O鈥機onnell to strengthen the region鈥檚 innovation ecosystem. Parker has played a leadership role in the Alliance since its inception and now leads its efforts to connect partners across Nashville鈥檚 public, private, civic and education sectors. Through the Alliance, she works to advance a shared strategy for expanding Nashville鈥檚 innovation capacity, strengthening its technology talent pipeline and supporting technology-driven economic development.
Prior to joining Government and Community Relations, Parker served as assistant provost in Vanderbilt鈥檚 Division of Academic Affairs, where she managed high-impact strategic projects in partnership with deans, vice provosts and other university leaders.
Before joining Vanderbilt, Parker worked in strategic communications, public affairs and economic development consulting in Washington, D.C., Nashville and Tampa. Her experience includes work with clients across the public and private sectors, including serving as senior editor of the鈥疉frica Defense Forum, a multilingual publication produced by Booz Allen Hamilton on behalf of the United States Africa Command.
Parker has also served as a visiting professor at the 溏心vlog免费B站 of South Florida. She earned a Ph.D. in political science from Florida State 溏心vlog免费B站 and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in political science and French from Belmont 溏心vlog免费B站.
