Why Pursue Fellowships?
Fellowships can support:听
- Mentored research at Vanderbilt or in international or domestic laboratories 听
- Fully-funded postgraduate degree听in the US or abroad听
- Intensive, immersive research,听study听or language learning听in the US or abroad听
Over 250 Vanderbilt alumni, graduate + professional students have received funding through the听Fulbright US Student Program. Fulbright places听English Teaching Assistants in c. 100 countries, funds听research听and creative projects听across disciplines on six continents, and听supports听earning graduate degrees in Europe,听Australia,听Asia, and Latin America.鈥�听
Vanderbilt听Fulbrighters听have conducted dissertation, thesis, and independent research projects in听Australia,听Tunisia, Russia, Namibia, India, Sweden, Ukraine, Rwanda, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Australia, Morocco, Peru, the Netherlands, Israel, and Belgium.听Alumni听have also earned graduate degrees in Taiwan, the UK, Ireland,听the Netherlands, Germany,听Mexico, Sweden,听Singapore,听New Zealand, and Australia.听
Through Fulbright and country-specific fellowship programs including JET, USTA, TAPIF, NALCAP, and EPIK, Vanderbilt students and alumni have听taught English听in Germany, Austria, Spain, France, South Korea, Italy, Taiwan, Thailand, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Mexico, Macedonia, and Cyprus.听
CBYX offers students and alumni the opportunity to complete postgraduate professional development programs in Germany, Luce does the same in South and East Asia and Fulbright does so in Mexico听and FAO Schwarz and Project Horseshoe Farm support domestic opportunities.听

The Career Center鈥檚 Fellowships Team听focuses on听supporing听eligible students and alumni听throughout the application processes for (颈苍迟别谤)苍补迟颈辞苍补濒濒测鈥�competitive fellowships鈥痶hat require Vanderbilt鈥檚 institutional nomination.听
Fellowships alumni听reflect听on the value of the application process, which offers tremendous transferable skills,听benefits that听accrue听whether you advance or not.听This inspired us to create the Postgraduate Proposal Development Program (PPDP or听鈥淏ootcamp鈥�) in collaboration with the ELC, Writing Studio,听campus听and alumni partners.听听
Active engagement in the PPDP ensures that applicants听have sufficient time to draft, workshop and refine dossier materials and听are supported throughout the application process听by听the Fellowships Team,听campus听and alumni听partners听to present the strongest possible application on behalf of Vanderbilt.听听
The fellowships process builds听applicants鈥櫶齭elf-awareness and helps听them gain clarity around their academic,听professional听and personal goals.听PPDP participants听create听well-crafted听research听statements,听statements of grant purpose (academic +听personal听plans), CVs/听resumes, and other tangible materials听ready to adapt for听postgraduate听study听applications and post-Vanderbilt career journeys.听

A Note for Graduate Students
We strongly encourage applications from graduate students鈥痑nd graduate alumni who are eligible for Fulbright, Marshall/Chevening/Sherfield, DAAD, Luce, Boren, DAAD-RISE Pro, and other鈥痭omination-based鈥痑wards. We also provide structured support for NSF GRFP for eligible seniors, alumni or first-year graduate students in collaboration with the Writing Studio, Graduate School, alumni and campus partners. 听
The Graduate and Postdoctoral Career Success (GPCS) program supports the career plans of graduate and postdoctoral scholars in non-biomedical STEM, Humanities, and Social Sciences disciplines. These plans include internships, alt-ac careers, post-ac opportunities, and related career opportunities outside of the academy. GPCS also supports master鈥檚 candidates interested in pursuing doctoral studies.
