Speaker Bios:
Dr. Smita De is currently the VISE fellow and a clinical instructor in Urologic Surgery at Vanderbilt äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾. She was accepted to the Medical Scientist Training Program at the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ of Washington during which she received her M.D. and Ph.D. in Bioengineering as well as a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award. She subsequently completed a residency in Urology at Stanford äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ and spent a year with the R&D department at Intuitive Surgical, Inc. Her research focuses on the development and improvement of surgical devices and technologies for Urologists.
Dr. Ryan Hsi (pronounced SEE) graduated from Loma Linda äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ Medical School and completed urology residency at the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ of Washington. He completed his fellowship in laparoscopy and endourology at UC San Francisco. He has been on faculty here with the Department of Urologic Surgery since August 2016 as an Assistant Professor. His clinical practice covers benign and malignant upper urinary tract disease with a focus on complex kidney stone prevention and surgical treatment.
