Event Guidelines

Decorations, Exhibits, and Displays Ìý

**Student Centers are not responsible for the loss of any materials, displays, gifts, favors, or other items left in any of the Student Center facilities.Ìý

Timeline:

  • Discuss and approve decorating and posting limitations with Student Centers two weeks prior to the eventÌý

Limitations:

  • No tape, glue, tacks, or nails on walls, doors, floors, ceilings, glass, woodwork, draperies, moveable walls, or any painted surfaceÌý
  • Groups causing damage will be responsible for repair costsÌý
  • Decorations, exhibits, or displays must not block or obstruct doorways, hallways, corridors, staircases, or fire exits
  • Light bulbs must not be placed where heat might create a fire hazardÌý
  •  Special effects equipment requires approval from the Director of Student Centers or their designeeÌý
  • Flammable materials (banners, displays, centerpieces) are only allowed where no fire danger exists, as determined by Student CentersÌý
  • Restricted materials include hay, sand weights, confetti, rice, dance wax, powder, glitter, etcÌý
  • Groups WILL be charged for extensive clean-up

Setup:

  • Groups must arrange for labor to set up and remove decorations, exhibits, or displaysÌý
  • Liability release must be signed for those wanting to use a ladder  OR request and pay for Student Centers staff assistance
  • Proof of licensing and a liability release are required for aerial lift useÌý
  • Groups CAN request and pay for staff assistance. 

Removal:Ìý

  • If NO arrangements has been approved by Student Centers:Ìý
  • decorations, exhibits, and displays must be removed immediately following the event Ìý
  • Groups are responsible for the disposal of unwanted materials, with additional fees for extensive clean-up.Ìý

Special Needs/Request:

  • Requests beyond the scope of this policy must be approved by Student Centers.Ìý
