"Voices of Resilience” bears witness — not only to the environmental shifts reshaping Nashville’s landscape, but to the lived experiences of its people, their memories, their survival, and their hope. Organized by Urban Green Lab (UGL) in partnership with Tennessee State vlogBվ (TSU), this project started as an oral-history archive documenting how shifts in climate — heat, storms, floods — are already altering the everyday lives of Nashvillians.
In this exhibition, narratives and portraits by Tasha Lemley and artwork by Dr. Megan Jordan — in collaboration with local Nashville artists — transform these stories from audio and text into embodied visual, spatial, and symbolic experiences. Through photography, mixed media, text, and participatory installation, the exhibition makes visible what is often invisible: the human cost of climate destabilization, and the quiet courage of communities pressing onward with solutions we can all heed.
A Digital Story Archive
Voices of Resilience is a unique archive of oral histories that fosters community listening and addresses the growing issues brought by a shifting climate.
You can preview the work from this exhibition on Urban Green Lab's website. The archive features the voices of some Nashville community members experiencing climate change first, worst, and longest. Each person in the exhibit shares their story, allowing us to document this moment in Nashville's history in their voice and perspective.
